Learning Mentor (Sixth Form Focus)
Contract: Part-time, Permanent - 37 hours per week, term time plus inset days
Salary: Grade 5, SP 16-20 (FTE: £32,596 - £36,362 / Actual: £27,255 - £30,404 per annum)
Start date: September 2026
Responsible to: Head of Sixth Form / Pastoral Leadership Team
At Thomas Gainsborough School, we believe in “Excellence: for each, for all.” We are looking to appoint a caring, organised and highly motivated Learning Mentor to join our pastoral team and play a key role in supporting students within our thriving Sixth Form community.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to succeed both academically and personally. The successful candidate will work closely with the Sixth Form, Pastoral and SEND teams to ensure students are fully supported throughout their educational journey.
The role will involve:
- Supporting students to remove any barriers to their learning
- Supporting students with SEND within the Sixth Form alongside the SEND team
- Monitoring and supporting students placed in directed study
- Supervising and supporting independent study areas to promote positive study habits and high expectations
- Assisting students with organisation, wellbeing and engagement
- Overseeing and managing Sixth Form bursaries
- Building positive relationships with students, staff and families
